Peter Van Geertruyden, MD, FACRMusculoskeletal Radiology

Dr. Peter Van Geertruyden is an experienced musculoskeletal radiologist with a particular focus on sports-related injuries. He is a sought-after speaker at both local and national conferences, where he presents on a wide range of topics including musculoskeletal imaging, professionalism, and mentorship.
An active member of the American College of Radiology (ACR), Dr. Van Geertruyden has served on the ACR Government Relations Commission, the Committee on Practice Development, the Radiology Leadership Institute (RLI), and the Executive Committee of the Young Physicians Section (YPS). He is also a Past President of the District of Columbia Medical Radiological Society (DCMRS) and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Radiological Society (VRS).
A 1996 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Dr.Van Geertruyden served over 25 years in the United States Army, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His military career included leadership roles both at home and abroad, with deployments to Bosnia and Iraq. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Combat Medical Badge, the Army Flight Surgeon Badge, and the Army Parachutist Badge. In 2020, following his retirement from active duty, he joined Medical Center Radiologists and returned with his family to Hampton Roads, where he grew up.
Dr. Van Geertruyden lives in Norfolk with his wife, their two children, and their Golden Retriever. In his free time, he enjoys tennis, squash, and boating.
